^^Kyle brewed another batch of beer^^

This week I've got two trips to Austin for work, so that's fun! One month until my trip to DC. Life is pretty busy but the busy feels good for the most part.

Hockey in Dallas

Posted on: Monday, January 27, 2014

^^Luna every morning^^
^^I made these sour cream pancakes and we both really liked them^^
^^it was set up all wrong so Kyle had to fix it^^
^^sparkling lights and fire pits at the restaurant!^^

This weekend we went to Dallas to see the Penguins play the Stars, and they lost horribly. WHOOPS. But this was Kyle's first NHL game and my third, and it was a really nice time. We had a delicious dinner before the game at the beautiful Saint Ann- their bacon wrapped chorizo stuffed dates were amazing. There were at least as many if not more Penguins fans at the game, actually, which was very cool.

On Sunday I did some work, took Luna to the park for a nice walk, baked a blueberry banana loaf, got groceries, did laundry, meal planned, and I settled in with some wine to watch the Grammy's because I enjoy the frivolity of award shows.

A Cold Weekend

Posted on: Monday, December 9, 2013

It's a cold one, Mr. Grinch. We had a wonderfully cold weekend. I spent it finishing up my last assignments of the semester, cleaning, watching Jingle All the Way and American Horror Story on Netflix, hanging out with Luna and Kyle. Today is my last day of class for the semester! Hooray!

A Nice Fall Weekend

Posted on: Monday, October 21, 2013

This was just one of those lovely, well-balanced (aka- didn't do a lot of homework but a lot of other things instead), rejuvenating, perfect weather weekends. Friday was spent running errands, painting pumpkins and helping at an alumni homecoming reception, in preparation for our Saturday tailgate and football game. Sunday was some more errands, some homework, and ending the weekend with guts and gore of The Walking Dead, just the way it should be.

See more of my painted pumpkins here!

At the Honey Farm

Posted on: Sunday, October 13, 2013

This "fall break" weekend was pretty nice. I had a lot of work to do, catching up on my IRB proposal for my research project (now that I finally have a set research topic!) and planning for teaching a class this week, but I always try to work in one fun event or outing each weekend (in social work we call that "self care"). Saturday the Walker Honey Farm was having their annual fall market, so a couple friends and I went to check it out. It wasn't as good as last year; there were less vendors, the weather was a bit too warm, and the overall atmosphere wasn't as fun and friendly (maybe just because Abigail wasn't there). But, I did pick up some pumpkins and some jalapeno jellies from the same vendor as last year!
