Downtown and The Alamo

Here's another San Antonio photo post- this time with pictures from downtown, the Alamo, La Villita, and the Tower of the Americas. I don't think the photos really show how busy it was on Saturday; there was a parade right through town and people all about.

The River Walk

My favorite part of our day in San Antonio was the River Walk. I've had a thing for cities with busy rivers through town since living in Turku, Finland. I'd walk home and to town along the river all the time, and I loved it. The walk along the San Antonio River was really awesome, at any time of day. We spent a lot of time just wandering, and stopped for lunch at a place called Acenar for some tasty fajita time. Later in the day, when we got out of randomly seeing Wreck it Ralph, the sun had set and we took a river tour at night (which I highly recommend). I'm certain I was smiling the whole time. I would love to stay at one of the hotels right on the river and walk around in the morning. Of course that would require spending an exorbitant amount of money on a hotel room, but a girl can dream.

San Antonio

San Antonio is a beautiful place. We spent the day there and ended with a night river tour ride (definitely the way to do it). Our car window was smashed and car broken into (parked in a well lit parking lot; lots of bus and pedestrian traffic all around), so we ended the trip on a bad note (and with a very loud 2.5 hour drive back to Temple with all the windows down). The policeman said, "I hope this doesn't keep you from coming back to San Antonio!" I don't think it will. I would love to spend some more time there.

A Little Tip

Kyle has a four day weekend and I feel like putting off work (not really), so we're going on a little trip to San Antonio! We're going to spend Saturday in San An, and probably stay in New Braunfels for the night to check out Wurstfest and perhaps Faust Brewery on Sunday before heading home.
