Some things we've been up to back at home in State College, PA...

Going to the shooting range with Kyle and my Dad. It's one of my dad's hobbies, and Kyle obviously knows something about guns since he is in the Army. I had never shot a gun before, and we started with a really big, really loud gun, but once I realized I probably wasn't going to accidentally kill someone or have the gun kick back and break my face, I was pretty comfortable. We shot a M4 Carbine first, which is basically what Kyle was issued during deployment so he taught us how to use it. I did surprisingly well (also I forgot my glasses for seeing distance), better than some folks in the Army who are trained to use these things (good for me, not so much for our armed forces?). Then we went over to the handgun range and tried out a revolver and a couple pistols. They are definitely harder to use accurately, I'll just say that.

the objective is to get all your shots close together in a cluster, and then depending on which quadrant your cluster is in, follow the instructions to adjust the front sight and rear sights so that your cluster will then fall within the black target area. so I did pretty well considering!
Enjoying State College foods.
Stickies from the Diner (I don't actually have any attachment to these but apparently they are a thing)

Playing/hanging with the kittens, hanging out with family, eating more tasty food.

haha sleeping on Kyle

I think we've finally worked it out that we can go to Pittsburgh the 24th and return to SC the 27th, then head back to Texas the 28th and 29th.

Wednesday Wedding: Little Details

I sat down last week to make a list of all the little things that go into a wedding, things that I have yet to settle on/make/buy. These things include: escort cards, table numbers, decorations for tables, displays for the dessert table, lighting, favors, linens, signs and labels, to name some off the list. You know, the things that you get a little OCD about when decorating and setting up for the wedding the day before (or at least that's what I fully intend on doing). I have a lot of the big things figured out for the wedding, but it's the little details that will really shine, and it's thinking about all the little details that made me feel like the wedding was a mere month away (not five. even so. only five? didn't it used to be like ten months away only last week?) and I really needed to get on it. I spent the next hour or so scouring Etsy, for ideas and inspiration, and possible future purchases. Here are some pretty little details that caught my eye.

Breakfast Sandwich

Posted on: Tuesday, January 17, 2012

I like to make people breakfast, even if I don't want to eat any myself. I asked Kyle what he wanted for breakfast and he didn't know, so I peeked around the fridge and saw something tasty coming together. I asked if he'd like a breakfast sandwich and he thought that would be awesome. We came up with: eggs, canadian bacon, english muffin, little bit of mayo, cheddar cheese and pepper. I started preparing and remembered something cool I saw on Pinterest, and thought that this would be the perfect time to try it out (except if it didn't work I would ruin breakfast and be sad). I had seen eggs cooking in "rings" of bell peppers, and thought it was quite smart for keeping the egg contained to a specific shape. We had bell peppers in the fridge, so I cut a couple slices and tried it out. The large eggs were a little too big for the rings and spilled out a bit, but it didn't cause any problems. And the sandwich ended up tasting really good (I was going to make something else for myself, but in the process decided I wanted one). I think it added a nice touch of color as well.
